Hey hi! I’m Aravind Raja Kannan — the guy who once believed Hotel Management was his dream,
only to realize halfway through IHM Chennai that I was better at eating from restaurants than running one.
But I powered through, finished my degree, and took a retail job (basically like an engineering grad joining a BPO — classic switch move).
Then I thought, “Hey, I’m a hotel management grad... why not start a restaurant?”
Spoiler alert: COVID said “Nice try, bro.”
Turns out, restaurant business isn’t just about food — it's about inventory, margins, Excel sheets, staff drama, and ten versions of sambar.
I didn’t last long. But that failure taught me more than any MBA — especially how real-world problems don’t come with pause buttons.
Post that, I floated through a few corporate jobs — nothing clicked. Burnt out, confused, and back at home.
That’s when I looked at my Appa’s 20-year-old tea shop and thought, “Why go big when you can go deep?” I took over.
Not to change the business — just to keep it going.
And then came AI — like a best friend who doesn’t interrupt or judge. I used AI to talk, to think, to explore.
Then one day… I built a web billing app. Me. A hotel grad with 12th-grade computer knowledge. I created something real — without asking anyone for help.
Since then, I’ve:
- Built and deployed my own AI-driven billing app.
- Learned Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Illustrator — just to see what I could do.
- Started an MA in Psychology — because understanding people is as exciting as building for them.
I don’t have a straight path. I have a mad, messy, thrilling journey — and I wouldn't change a thing.
From chai to AI, I’m building things my way. 🌱💻☕
